Resizing a photo that you took on your digital camera is important if you plan to put that photo on the web (Facebook, email, website, blog, etc.), or add it to some form of presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.). As a rule, large images load slowly, which will inevitably test the patience of everyone trying to view it. To get around this, you must learn how to resize a photo so that it is at it's optimal size for the web (200-300 pixels and a resolution of 72). Unless you have photo editing software on your computer, resizing an image may not be an opinion to you.
In this case, the power of the Internet and the ponderous minds of geeky programmers have birthed yet another "Do-it-yourself" website. Web Resizer. It's a simple site that takes your photos and resizes them for you. You can even round the edges of newly resized images. All you need to do is locate the image on your computer, upload it to the site, resize and edit it, then download it back to your computer. I recently performed a test on my Macbook, and it took less than a minute to get a significantly smaller image.
Just a note... The image is re-saved as a .png (Portable Network Graphic). Just a heads up so that your not looking for a jpeg image.
